A$AP Rocky released on R83 million bail
The rapper, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, was detained by police when his private plane landed at Los Angeles International Airport on Wednesday in connection with an alleged incident that occurred around 10.20 p.m. on November 6, 2021.
Alan Jackson,
Rocky's attorney, confirmed his client had been arrested by Los Angeles police.
According to the victim, Rocky approached him with a handgun while he was
walking down the street with two other people. The unidentified victim claimed
the rapper shot at him three or four times, with one of the bullets grazing his
left hand.
Rocky was
released at 3.27 p.m. after posting bail, according to ET Canada.
"Yes,
he was released," said LAPD public information officer Lee. The Los
Angeles Police Department has since issued a statement confirming that Rocky
was arrested by Robbery-Homicide Division Detectives for an alleged assault
with a deadly weapon.
"On
November 6, 2021, around 10.15 p.m., an argument between two acquaintances
occurred in the area of Selma Avenue and Argyle Avenue, in the Hollywood
Area," it read. The argument became heated, and the suspect fired a
handgun at the victim. "The victim suffered a minor injury as a result of
the incident and sought medical attention later." Following the shooting,
the suspect and two other males fled on foot."
Rocky had
been in Barbados with his pregnant girlfriend Rihanna, but it is unclear if she
was with him when he returned to the United States from his vacation before he
was arrested. The couple's relationship has been called into question in recent
weeks following allegations that the rapper was unfaithful to Amina Muaddi.
Amina, on
the other hand, has called the speculation "vile."
Earlier
this month, she posted on Instagram: "I've always believed that an
unfounded lie spread on social media does not merit a response or
clarification, especially one so heinous. "At first, I assumed that this
fabricated gossip – fabricated with such malice – would not be taken
seriously."
"However,
in the last 24 hours, I've been reminded that we live in a society that is so
quick to speak on topics regardless of facts, and that nothing is off
limits."
"Not
even during what should be one of life's most beautiful and celebrated
times."
"The
shoe designer went on to express "respect and affection" for both
Rihanna and Rocky, with whom she has previously collaborated.
