AKA and Nadia Nakai release joint statement on rumoured altercation in Ghana
AKA and Nadia Nakai release joint statement on rumoured altercation in Ghanaby Thandiwe M on April 20, 2022
According to the Daily Sun, AKA allegedly assaulted Nakai and their promoter while on business in Accra, Ghana.
Rudolph
Baloyi, AKA's attorney, sent a legal letter to the Daily Sun in response to
their published story, which allegedly 'defamed' AKA by insinuating that he
assaulted Nakai and the promoter, has a temper, and is violent.
According
to the legal letter, the online article should be removed and a public apology
issued. Civil claims for R800,000 in damages have also been filed against Daily
Sun. The Daily Sun has since removed the online article. The couple also issued
a joint statement on Twitter, denying the altercation claims.
"We
have received your inquiries regarding our recent trip to Accra (Ghana)."
What was once a pleasant and beautiful working trip on which we both had
separate work commitments is now being turned into a public smear campaign.
"What
we thought were casual interactions with industry colleagues and associates
have now been twisted by outsiders."
"Just
to clear the air, we had no physical or verbal altercation." "We're
fine, there's no drama between us, and we're basking in our individual
successes from this incredible trip," the statement read.
